Leading law firm Barry.Nilsson. has expanded its national presence with the opening of its new offices in Adelaide and Hobart, following a merger with Adelaide-based Winter Hilditch & Fotheringham (WHF), and the launch of its expanded Sydney premises. The move follows the firm’s recent opening in Melbourne.

In Adelaide, Barry.Nilsson.’s merger with WHF has led to the creation of a new office which will open this August with 15 new staff, including special counsel Bill Conor; senior associates Matt Davis and Sam Hilditch; and solicitors Myles Mayo and Emma Pilkington. Bringing 30 years of legal experience to the Adelaide team are the new partners from WHF: Andrew Hilditch, Bronwyn Ackland, and Michael Fotheringham.

In Sydney, Barry.Nilsson. has moved to new and larger premises at Level 19, 60 Castlereagh St., and has recruited six solicitors to its national insurance practice. Strengthening the firm’s CTP practice and presence in Australia’s financial centre is the addition of new partners Peter Harvey and Henry Silvester; special counsel Melinda Drew; senior associates Julia Byrnes and Helen Li; and solicitor Jacinta Daher. The team now comprises 20 solicitors and six partners.

And in Hobart, Barry.Nilsson.’s new office will open in August with partner Peter Forbes-Smith; special counsel Steve Smith; senior associate Emily Page and associate Alzena Ali.

Don Leembruggen, Barry.Nilsson. managing partner, commented on the new hires: “We have long held the vision of being leaders in Australia in our practice areas, and today’s announcement is a significant step forward in that direction.”

“Notably, we have expanded carefully and selectively by only recruiting staff who are attracted to our values and client-focused service, and I am confident the new recruits will uphold our high standards. We see exciting times ahead for our firm and are confident our increased scale and depth will contribute to successful outcomes for our expanding client base.”
