An Australian insurance brokerage has named its top three insurers in terms of claims excellence and recognised a late insurance claims personality in the process.
Victorian-based Austbrokers Phillips has handed The Sue Ronai Memorial Excellence in Claims Award to Chartis, with Zurich coming second and Vero third.
The brokerage’s staff vote for the award winner and there is a 12-point criteria which companies are marked on. All major insurers and underwriting agencies are eligible for the award.
The award also recognises the contribution to the insurance industry of the late Sue Ronai who spent a long and distinguished career in the industry.
Ronai spent most of her working life in claims at various major insurers including Zurich and was a claims manager at Austbrokers Phillips when she passed away from cancer in 2007.
“We thought it appropriate we honour the valuable contribution Sue made to the insurance industry especially in her claims role,” said David Keys, director of Austbrokers Phillips.
“By making this award a Perpetual Trophy it ensures her name is remembered by the industry. We believe the outstanding work of claims staff are very rarely recognised and hopefully this award helps in acknowledging and rewarding the vital role they play,” he added.
Noel Condon, chief executive officer of Chartis Australia, said: “On behalf of everyone at Chartis Australia, I am delighted to accept the 2012 Sue Ronai Memorial Excellence in Claims Award.
"Sue’s reputation is synonymous with excellent claim service and we would like to thank Austbrokers Phillips for highlighting the importance of Claims and honouring Sue’s memory with this award,” added Condon.
