Suncorp has announced its latest member of its executive team with a new chief information officer joining the Group.

Sarah Harland will join the business from Medibank Private, where she was EGM, technology and operations with previous stints at ANZ alongside roles in the United Kingdom and United States.

Harland will lead the technology and business intelligence strategy of the Group with responsibility for all technology, digital enablement, cloud and infrastructure and projects and programs and innovation labs function.

Suncorp Group CEO and managing director, Michael Cameron, said that Harland’s experience will see her thrive in the new role.

“Sarah is an outstanding and experienced candidate and I am confident her leadership and track record over the past 16 years in similar roles will build on the momentum we already have and take Suncorp’s digital capability to the next level,” Cameron said.

In February, Suncorp announced a revamp of their business which saw Matt Pancino take on the CIO role, only to leave the business two months after his confirmation in the position.

Suncorp’s use of technology has hit the headlines in recent weeks with the business announcing a US$5 million deal with tech-frim Trōv with plans to bring a ‘world-first’ technology platform to Australian shores.

Harland will join the business on 1 September 2016, and Clayton Herbert, chief transformation officer and acting CIO caretaker keeping the role until Harland commences.
