Heavy Motor Accident Assist for vehicles over five tonnes will be rolled out to Australian customers of Zurich Australian Insurance Limited (Zurich) from July 1 2016.

The move comes as Zurich further invests in its commercial motor and fleet offering.

Zurich Heavy Motor Accident Assist will be available 24/7 as first responders, seeking to secure assets resulting in minimising losses and time off the road for customers.

Sean Jungwirth, Head of Claims - Shared Services, Zurich, General Insurance, Australia said as well as helping customers get back to business more quickly, other key benefits of the service include “getting experts and resources engaged quickly to contain spills and deal with incidents as well as expediting a claim overall”.

Further cementing its investment in the motor space, Mervyn Rea, head of risk engineering at Zurich, Australia and New Zealand said: “We are actively engaged with developments in motor technology that might affect the risks our customers are exposed to and we are dedicated to staying ahead of the curve to help them manage these risks.”

He added: “We are deeply interested in the potential for self-driving vehicles and related technologies to make road usage safer for everyone.”
