Why did you get into insurance?

I was actually 10-pin bowling back in 1977 when Revell Henry, Colonial Mutual Agent with many years’ experience said: “You should sell insurance because you talk a lot.”  I did a 12-month apprenticeship with Colonial Mutual while still holding down another job and then a year and a half later I moved from Colonial Mutual to Mercantile Mutual.  I was never out of their Merit Club.

How would you sum up insurance brokers in three words?
Claim/Broker/Cash

How would change the industry?
Empower the broker development manager to make decisions instead of it always being pushed down the line.

Best advice you’ve ever been given?
Look after the client and the cash will come.  Do not sell by your wallet.

If you were Prime Minister for one day, what would you do?
Sack half the bureaucrats as well as produce a ‘get out of jail free card for speeding’ and a 1000 point licence.

If you could invite three people to dinner, dead or alive, and excluding family and friends, who would they be and why?
Matt Golinski because whenever I think I am having a sh**ty day he is my inspiration.  If he can go on with life with the cards that he has been dealt then anyone can.

Forrest Lucas, CEO of Lucas Oils, USA, husband to Charlotte and father to Morgan. Current NHRA Top Fuel Racer because of his enduring passion for the many motor sports facilities, tracks and races that he sponsors.

Roger Penski – this guy is a legend in motor racing.  He still owns every Indy and NASCAR race car that has won championships.

Complete this sentence: If I wasn’t in insurance, I would be….
Selling expensive cars like Ferraris, Lamborghinis or whatever and definitely not a butcher from Duaringa.
