An industry expert will bring his extensive experience to an executive role for a leading insurer.

IAG has appointed Steve Marshall as executive general manager of long tail claims, with responsibility for CTP, Workers Compensation (fee and risk states), liability and professional risks within IAG’s Operations division.

IAG chief operating operator, Mark Milliner, said Marshall brings a deep understanding of the insurance industry combined with a solid track record of running strong and sustainable businesses.

“It’s fantastic to have Steve join the IAG team and I know his experience and collaborative approach will be invaluable in helping customers with their claims”, Milliner said.

Marshall has previously held senior roles in the industry, including CEO of the Victorian state government captive insurer and risk manager (VMIA). He was also formerly general manager at Allianz where he was in charge of the Victorian and South Australian Workers Compensation schemes, South Australia CTP and Telstra Comcare.

He has also held roles at Suncorp, including as national manager, risk and investigations, and more recently worked with the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation, RecoveriesCorp, as well as Ernst & Young.
