QBE has announced a new general manager for its workers compensation business.

Andrew Borden has been appointed to the role, which will be based in Melbourne, and will start with the business on March 21.

Borden has more than two decades experience in the insurance industry and has spent the previous three years working alongside brokers as the regional manager, intermediary distribution for Victoria and Tasmania.

Jason Clarke, QBE Australia’s executive general manager, intermediary distribution, said the addition of Border to the new role highlights the strength in depth of the business.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Andrew take up this key role leading our national Workers Compensation team,” Clarke said.

“Andrew brings critical skills and experience to the role as we continue to seek new and innovative ways to meet the needs of our customers, while also delivering sensitive and effective support to injured workers.”

Borden, who has spent more than half of his career in the workers compensation sector, said that he is looking forward to continuing to work alongside brokers in his new role.

“I’m excited to be taking on the role of General Manager Workers Compensation,” Borden said.

“QBE has a long history and strong commitment to the Workers Compensation sector and I’m looking forward to joining the team as we continue to deliver high levels of service to brokers, employers and injured workers.”

Borden will replace Jason Hammond, who was named general manager of broker distribution by QBE earlier this year as part of a trio of other moves.
