International underwriter Argenta has announced that it has launched its first Australian office in a bid to strengthen its presence in the Asia Pacific region.

The new branch office of Argenta Underwriting Asia will be located in Sydney’s CBD in Lloyd’s Sydney platform and will be led by Tim Higgins.

Higgins has over 30 years’ experience in the Australian insurance industry including four years at the head of Mobius Underwriting.

“Argenta is ideally positioned to grow its business in the region,” Higgins said of the launch.

“I am very much looking forward to working with Argenta’s talented management team as we seek to build out the Argenta brand and footprint in Australia.”

Andrew Annandale, chief executive operator of Argenta Holdings, said that the company is looking forward to making its bow in the Australian market and will offer a full range of products from their Lloy’ds Syndicate 2121.

“We are delighted that Tim has agreed to join Argenta to head up our new Sydney office,” Annandale said.

“The new branch will allow us to better serve our existing partners and provide us with the opportunity to expand our client base in the region by offering local access to the full range of products available from Argenta’s Lloyd’s Syndicate 2121.”

Active underwriter for the syndicate, Ian Maguire, praised the addition of Higgins and the opportunities Australia presents.

“Tim’s underwriting expertise, relationships and knowledge of the region will be invaluable as we look to take advantage of the exciting opportunities we see in the Australian market.”
